Bevezetés

A Linux "operációs rendszer" mai felhasználóbarátsága, költséghatékonysága és számos egyéb pozitív jellemzője, piaci helyzete és jövője - már csak Unix-os gyökerei okán is - felveti, hogy egy elképzelt kisvállalkozás - Linux-on végezze napi munkáját, így a terméktervezést is.

A felhasználó „egyszerű" kérdései tehát: 

1.Léteznek-e a (gép)ipari terméktervezést segítő szoftvertermékek–CAD/CAM/CAE rendszerek – Linux-ra?
2 Melyek alkalmasak számomra a napi munkára?
3.Hogyan válasszam ki a megfelelő szoftverterméket?

Today the use of computers in the daily work is not questionable anymore either in the largest venture or in the smallest company. Mainly, companies may choose two different professional and general operating systems(OS): Windows or Linux.

But what is the situation with the application software, which can run on the chosen OS for example engineering design software? Engineering industry CAD/CAM software usually requires the Windows operating system. This results in very high cost for the small business companies. This is one segment for example where the company can save a lot of money in addition to develop their business knowledge and it safety.

Today Linux became a user-friendly OS and according to a lot of assessment able to improve it’s capabilities further. It represents a good alternative for small design offices, engineering companies to use Linux-based application in their daily work.

One simple question arises from users: is this system ready to help me in my work? Does the necessary application exist? What CAD/CAM software applications are available on the Linux platform? Which one to choose? Which one is the best for my company?

This study makes an attempt to find several answers.
